I have written before about the unique job I have compared to many other music teachers. I spend most of my days teaching private lessons at area grade schools. That amounts to many hours spent listening to music, playing music, and talking about music. Though music is my passion, I find myself going through periods of time craving silence. At the end of my work day, I drive home with my car stereo tuned into talk radio or turned off completely. Call it a professional hazard. Of course, I always come back to the great music that led me into this adventure, and all is well with the world again. Elsa, Lincolnshire, Nimrod, and others are where I start to fall in love with music all over again. To what music to you turn to rekindle that passion? I would love you to hear yours! Enjoy the silence, but only for a little while.

~ I have a very similar job to yours. Hiking or running in the woods and talk radio are my “silent” moments.
Classically, I return to a favorite vocalist (Cecilia Bartoli or Renee Fleming), or to Mozart (pretty much all of his stuff is awesome). From the popular realm, I always go back to Indigo Girls- they’ve been a huge part of my personal soundtrack for years.
